Saturday December 11, 2021 – Regular meeting of the County Administrative Board
Pentagon city area plan – The county council will hear public testimony and consider a request to announce a public hearing in February on the Pentagon city area plan project, which is the culmination of the city planning study of the Pentagon which lasted several years.
The Sector Plan provides an overarching guide for future redevelopment and policy making in the Pentagon City area. Its recommendations were informed by a solid analysis that addressed key topics and questions that arose during the planning process, as well as extensive public engagement that included a focus group, public workshops, days. virtual open houses and information sessions with county commissions and committees. If the Commission approves the publicity request, public comments will also be considered at a public hearing in February.
Complete construction of the plan would add density to the area which provides affordable on-site units and an improved multimodal transportation system that prioritizes transit, walking, cycling and micro-mobility. It would also offer approximately 4.5 acres of new public parks and plazas, a 1 acre extension of Virginia Highlands Park, and 3 miles of public walking trails.
