Lionsgate Promotes David Edwards to Executive Vice President, Global Marketing – Deadline


Lionsgate has promoted David Edwards to Executive Vice President, Global Marketing. In his new role at the studio, he will report to President of Global Marketing Marisa Liston, overseeing creative, digital and strategy for its global cinema marketing department.

Edwards most recently served as Senior Vice President, Global Marketing Strategy, developing dynamic, data-driven marketing strategies, leading campaign execution and overseeing the production of some of the studio’s most successful campaigns, including those for The hunger Games franchise, Oscar-winning The Earththe $300 million box office hit Wonder, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Knives out.

He is currently working on The unbearable weight of massive talent, with Oscar winner Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal; the next John Wick: Chapter 4; Wonder continued White Bird: A Wonderful Story; Borderlandswith Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jack Black; About my father, with Sebastian Maniscalco and Robert De Niro; adapted by Judy Blume Are you there God? It’s me, Margaret writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig and producer James L. Brooks; and an untitled Adele Lim comedy, among many other films.

Edwards’ award-winning work includes responsibility for digital and strategic marketing efforts across all of the studio’s flagship franchises and major theatrical releases since 2012. He has worked with top talent across a wide range of initiatives, including including creative advertising, digital and social media marketing, technology partnerships, branded content integrations and international marketing, and has also been instrumental in campaigns for Spirate: From the Book of Saw, The Hitman’s Bodyguard paul feig movies A simple favor, The Expendables franchise, Sicario and hacksaw crest.

Prior to her time at Lionsgate, Edwards worked for Beverly Hills-based social media and digital creative agency, Digital Media Management. There, he helped establish its Theatrical Film Marketing division, working on creative social media campaigns with several studio clients. Edwards began his career as a freelance designer, video editor, and event producer in the San Diego area, after earning a BS in Film Production and New Media from San Diego State University in 2007.
