Refik Anadol is a Turkish artist and director who uses the latest in artificial intelligence technology to turn massive algorithms into mesmerizing data sculptures. A dazzling figure in the art world, the Roman luxury house BVLGARI called on Anadol for its latest installation, Serpenti Metamorphosis, which recently debuted in Piazza del Duomo in Milan.
Claimed as the first AI artwork made for a luxury brand, the installation explores the relationship between technology and art by celebrating nature through machine learning algorithms. For example, Anadol has meticulously configured the machine to learn an image of a flower or a snake, which will then learn the images corresponding to its color, shape and patterns – creating an information memory bank that continually remodels. sculpture in real time.
The award-winning artist was inspired by the metamorphosis process and the iconic symbol Serpenti of the luxury jewelry brand. Where the traditions of art and technology were disparate disciplines, Anadol noted in the past maintenance, “Art, design, science and technology can no longer be separated – we are in a new era.”
“Serpenti Metamorphosis” will be open to the public in Milan throughout October, embarking on a world tour soon after. Finally, the digital art will be engraved in a unique NFT which will be available for purchase at a later date. The proceeds from the sale will go to a charity chosen by BVLGARI and the artist.
