Gurgaon: The State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) of Haryana said on Tuesday that it was strengthening its law enforcement wing to ensure that development projects have no cost to the environment.
The SEIAA Chairman told a meeting in Gurgaon that environmental (EC) clearances were sought for 574 projects covering an area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters in the past three years; CEs have been issued to 316 of them, and the rest are under scrutiny. Sameer Pal Saro added, “The Haryana authority would strengthen its enforcement wing to ensure compliance with rules related to environmental protection.”
He said, “We explained to all the project consultants that economic development must continue, but the environment must not be damaged.
According to Saro, the environmental aspect must be taken into account when preparing the project. On Tuesday, the authority launched a new website to simplify obtaining environmental permits. Environmental related notifications, fees, document checklist must be attached, along with the CE application, on this website.
Saro said that it is mandatory to obtain environmental clearance for any project, and the government of Haryana has provided for the filing of project review fees for all upcoming projects by October 2021. An amount of Rs 50,000 corresponds to the investigation or examination costs for a project. costing up to Rs 5 crore, Rs 1 lakh for a project costing Rs 5 to Rs 25 crore, Rs 1.5 lakh for a project of Rs 25 to 100 crore, Rs 2 lakh for projects above Rs 100 crore. For projects covering up to 5 hectares, the additional examination fee is Rs 75,000. For projects covering an area of ​​more than 5 hectares, it is Rs 1.5 lakh.
