As of 7:20 p.m. KST that day, the number of copies sold on the Hanteo Chart had exceeded 900,000 (a total of 929,941 copies to be exact). This makes the 13-member boy group the fourth Korean artist in history to surpass 900,000 copies on their first day, following BTS, TXT and trotting singer Lim Young Woong.

“Face the Sun” has now broken the group’s first-day sales record on Hanteo by nearly doubling the previous amount. The record was originally held by their mini-album “Your Choice,” which only sold 881,788 copies on June 18.

On top of that, SEVENTEEN became the second Korean artist to win a “millionaire” title on day one in Hanteo’s history (after BTS).

To date, BTS has already sold over 1 million copies on the first day four times, including “MAP OF THE SOUL: 7” (2020), “BE” (2020), “Butter” ( 2021) and “MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA” (2021).

What’s more impressive is that “Face the Sun” also broke the group’s first week sales record of 1,364,127 copies sold by “Your Choice”.

Including SEVENTEEN’s “Face the Sun” day one sales, the boy group surpassed 10 million sales on Hanteo with all of their albums. This makes them the second artist in history (again) to achieve the feat (after BTS).

As a reminder, SEVENTEEN’s “Face the Sun” broke the record for the third highest pre-order amount in history by reaching 2.2 million pre-orders in stock. It’s no surprise, then, that the studio album produced stunning results from the first day of sales.

Congratulations to SEVENTEEN for their latest historic achievement!
