Wife of Colorado political strategist missing in Florida condominium collapse

The wife of a Colorado Democratic political strategist is among those missing in the partially collapsed condominium outside of Miami.

Michael Stratton told KDVR-TV of Denver that he was speaking on the phone with his wife Cassondra Stratton on Thursday around 1:30 a.m. when the building collapsed.

“She described the building shaking, then… the phone broke,” said Stratton, who flew to Florida after learning of the collapse.

In a statement Friday, Stratton thanked rescue workers as well as all those who keep his wife in their thoughts and prayers.

“Cassie is a wife, mother and true friend to many. She brings a keen love of life to everything she does, whether as an actress, model or Pilates instructor, ”he said.

According to his law firm’s website, Stratton, who works in Denver and Washington, has spent decades working with Colorado Democrats, including the campaigns of Senator Michael Bennet and former Governor John Hickenlooper. He also worked in the administrations of former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

Stratton told KMGH-TV of Denver that and his wife spent much of their 40s during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the condo, which they had owned for four years.
